THANKSGIVING PREP TIP: How to keep your kitchen clean
I can't stress enough how important it is to keep your kitchen clean as you work. Fortunately there are just a few simple things we can do to make it easy.
1. Start with a clean kitchen. I don't mean scrub it down from head to toe, but clear off counters, scrub the sink, wipe down surfaces and sweep the floor. It's always invigorating to cook in a clean kitchen.
3. Have an absorbent mat or dish towel next to the sink. In just a few seconds your spatula will be clean and waiting to be used again if you can wash and let it dry without much effort.
4. Line a large bowl with a grocery sack to be your portable garbage. It's much easier to move a bowl around than your large garbage can.
5. Throw a dish towel over one shoulder. It can be a hot pad, hand wipe, and used to dry dishes. (That wasn't a parallel sentence, I'm sorry.)
6. Take cleaning breaks. It's easy to get going on recipes and the next thing you know your kitchen is a tornado of misplaced items. Take a break every once in a while to hit the refresh button. Put away ingredients, wash bowls, and take out the garbage.
7. Light a candle. I don't know why it works, it just does.
