July 3 - Thursday

Today we got a new fridge.  Johann wrote me and told me that the delivery guys would be there sometime between 10:00 and 12:00 p.m.  They arrived at 10:01 a.m.  They came with a vacuum and a fridge.  We quickly emptied the old fridge so they could take it away, and they were gone by 10:05 a.m.  I couldn't believe it.  We now have a new vacuum to figure out as well.  The new fridge seems to work great.

While all of this was going on, we found a note on our front door saying that the post office tried to deliver a letter but that I was absent.  There is no way this could have been true since we were waiting for the fridge.

I went to the address that was on the note, but it was just a house.  So went to a grocery store and they pointed me in the right direction.  It was closed until 1:30 p.m.  It was 1:00 p.m.  So I came home, but not before buying an eclair to share with the kids, and waited.  While waiting I downloaded the Google translate app from English to French.

At 2:00 p.m. Johnny and I set out for the post office again.  We waited in line.  While in line I saw a woman with a baby in a stroller.  She had given the baby a sucker with a long white stick.  The baby had sucker sticky juice all over her.  But she wasn't sucking on the sucker, she was sucking on the stick.  As in sticking the stick down her throat!  I was freaking out, but knew better than to say anything.  Oh my goodness!  Between the sucker mess and the choking hazard, I just couldn't look at the baby anymore.

I finally got to my turn at the post office and showed them my driver's license.  She said that I couldn't pick up the letter that only Bradford could.  Using my new app I told her that Bradford was my husband and that he was in America.  She's like, "Not my problem."  I'm frustrated because the bank was supposed to put my name on the card, not Bradford's.  So she told me that Bradford has to fill out the back of the form authorizing me to pick it up.    Then she told me to come back tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with the signed form.  So guess who just forged her husband's signature?

It is now 2:40 p.m. and hot and sunny.  By hot I mean 81 degrees.  What a wimp I've become.  I think it is because the humidity is 38%.  Oh and the fact that air conditioning doesn't exist in France, LOL!

I'm finding it challenging to keep the kids productive.  They are away from their friends, well sort of.  Because of the Internet they actually can skype and IM their friends, but they are awake at different times.  But they just seem to want to watch videos and stuff.  So today I cracked the whip and told them to get studying.  Johnny is to study French and math, and Alice is to study for the ACT.  I'm trying to finish the Book of Mormon, and also learn French, and read my nonprofit book for the class I'm teaching and study an addiction book as well.  The train rides are nice because I feel like I get so much done on the trains.  I'm thinking about riding the train into the BYU Salt Lake Center next year instead of driving.  I could be more productive and also save on gas and wear and tear on my car.  Fortunately the train station is close to where I teach.
