Living in Lille - A Sick Day

I haven't been up very much today. so not much has happened.  Last night I had a really bad night with lots of coughing and sneezing.

Today, Bradford said, "I think you are really sick.  We need to get you some medicine." I didn't feel good enough to go outside and I'm the only one who can speak any French.  I knew we had a pharmacy at the end of the street, but could I trust Bradford to purchase the right thing?  Google translate to the rescue.

Bradford typed that he wanted a cough suppressant and expectorant like Mucinex.  The pharmacist said (in English!) that Mucinex is not allowed in France and that it's dangerous to mix the two.  She sold Bradford two different products one is an expectorant (loosens mucus) and one is a suppressant (stops the cough). She made it very clear to only take the expectorant in the morning.  Since it was 3 in the afternoon, I decided to take the suppressant.  I felt two things immediately, my cough stopped and I felt very drowsy.  I had a good solid sleep and finally woke up around 8:30 pm.

I googled the ingredient and it's not allowed in the U.S.  That checks since the FDA seems more interested in keeping us sick than actually healing us.  I'm going to take another dose right now and see how I feel in the morning.  At this point I feel like sleep will heal me more than anything.
